New puppie
Submitted by Kirbydo on Jan 31, 2007
If I get another puppy for my 1 year old will he be more focused on playing with the new puppy or will he still break things when I don't pay enough attention to him?
Answer by Katrina*:
A lot a people get a second dog as a companion to the first without, realizing all the extra care, training, and expenses that go along with having a second dog. Although your year old dog would probably burn a lot of energy playing with your puppy, if not supervised and managed the pups are likely do get into trouble (break things, chew on the wrong things, go to the bathroom in the wrong place, etc.) together and now with two that’s double the clean up and training to teach them appropriate things to do.
I would recommend establishing a solid foundation in your training your first dog before considering a second. That way when you get a new puppy you can focus on training the puppy and not having to train your first dog at the same time.
