31st August Well mum noticed that for about the last week I have been licking my dew claw on my left paw. She didnt really take any notice of it at first but I was doing it constantly. Yesterday mum want to look at my paw and as soon as she touched my dew claw I yelped in pain. Mum was being very gentle and trying not to hurt me, she looked at my dew claw and saw that I have a crack on the side which looks to go almost all the way through the nail and it looked very moist and sore. Then at the base of the nail it was torn and there was a small cut and some blood (about the size of a pin head).
Today just I yelped in pain 3 times. Once when mum was trying to push me off the couch, another time when I did high 5 and another when mum was looking at my paw. Mum doesnt know whats wrong but it I start limping then she will be taking me to the vet. I have cost her so much money so far and it's only been 7 months. 3rd September Well I am still licking my dewclaw on my left paw. I have been yelping a few times and today when Rusty came over for a play I yelped again. Mum had a closer look because this time I actually stayed still. The nail looks cracked all the way through and the quick looks like it's coming out of the nail. It is swollen, red and tender from me licking it and looks like it may be infected. Mum doesnt know what I did to make it this way but it is very painful for me. She might be taking me to the vet on Saturday but she may have to catch a bus home which means she cant bring me.
Mum is thinking of maybe getting my dew calws removed because I have cracked both of them and I always seem to be hurting them. Depends on how traumatic the surgery is and how much it would cost. 5th September Now about my paw, it still isnt getting better and it is very swollen now. The colour is a reddish purplish colour and I wont let anyone touch it. Today when mum got home she could see that I was starting to limp which isnt a good sign. She threw the ball for me in the yard and I ran after it but it hurt to much so I started walking and limping. Unfortunately mum cant get me to the vet for another 2-3 days but I will be going. This will make it the 4th vet visit in the last 7 months. I just contantsly have things going wrong with me. Copy and pasted from my dogster diary.
