Typist speaking. My mom and I are going to be moving soon, and taking Boomer along *fish will stay with my dad*. But I thought after we've settled in it would be nice to have another pet around. We would get a kitty, but my mom is somewhat allergic (she is to boomer too but puts up with him fine LOL) plus cats and birds don't mix well. If we don't end up getting a cat, we will for sure be getting a hamster or gerbil :) Whom will be named SParky LOL I already chose the name and I haven't gotten him yet! I guess i'm counting my chickens before they hatch...well anyway these were the two very cute kitties w were looking into getting. One is Perry who we saw at Petsmart and fell in love with. He can be active but if the humans around him are quiet, he will act calmer at least from what my Mom and I saw which is perfect for us. Even a Petsmart employee said "Please take him home he loves you" LOL Here is a link to Perry on Petfinder: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11145916 . Next we have Turtle a MALE TORTOISESHELL which is enough to make me fall in love with him instantly. Well, when we stopped by the mall a couple weeks ago we saw Turtle and I knew right away that he was rare and very cute. Alot of the kitties were sleeping, but he was wide awake and batting around a mouse toy. Like Perry he was active, but not hyper. At this shelter, you are allowed to let the kitties sniff your hand, but no petting. So I put my hand near his cage for him to sniff *not within petting range* and Turtle stuck his whole limb out the cage and touched my hand. It was the sweetest thing ever! Meet Turtle: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11496202 Well, what I'm thinking is if both are still in the shelter/Petsmart when we are looking into getting a new pet which should I get? Place your vote in the comments below for Perry or Turtle and why :) Thank you for reading! Edit: Caught up with the cuteness, I forget to say what sort of cat we are looking for LOL Well they both have similar disspositions, clingy once they get to know you and are playful. I'm also worried about Boomer: Aside from confining him to one room, does anyone know how to keep cats and birds in the same home in harmony? That would be very helpful LOL

Well Sadie, my mom had a beagle Tippy for a week when she was a kid and they had to give her away because of the allergy, after that my Nana started taking her to the allergist (because my mom must be allergic to at least 10 things!) and dogs/cats/birds haven't bugged her much at all since. Paco and Boomer she never had problems with, or cats *she only knows she's allergic, never had any reactions", she's only had problems with huge groups of dogs like at 4th of July Parades, Pet shops, etc. We'll be sure to have all of the allergy things in order before buying one of the cats and Archie Turtle isn't really a turtle- he's a tortoishell kitty! LOL

I think they are both cute, but I would have to pick Perry. He's adorable.
My only concern is if your mom is allergic that if it gets too bad she might take the cat back to the shelter.
