Tomorrow is my 7th Birthday and my mommy is so happy.She has been through alot with me.Since i was rescued 6 years ago my mommy had been through a rough road with me. As alot of you already know when i was rescued i was paralyzed from the neck down and then after a few days i was able to move my neck but my back legs were lifeless. The day i was to be put to sleep my mommy and my auntie who worked at the clinic i was at rescued me.Boy was i happy. The people that hurt me(Beat me till they left me paralyzed and then burned my tail)signed me over to the clinic my auntie was able to adopt me and i was my mommy's surprised gift.I have had so many problems with my health since i was a puppy mill puppy. I suffer from ear infections and skin infections and thyroid problems and sores in my mouth and dental problems and i still have back problems and you know that my mommy has not gotten herself a new outfit in years and all the money she has she has spend on my medical bills and medications.I have all my medications and i am always up to date on my vaccines and while she will not get anything for herself she always makes sure i have everything i need and especially the prescription diet i am on. My auntie is typing this for me my mommy doesn't know what she is typing and will she be surprised.
Mommy i want to thank you for the best 6 years of my life thank you for always thinking of me and forgetting about you. You need so much and yet you rather do without and spend the money on my medications and vet visits and therapy's. I am the luckiest Cocker Spaniel in the world i have the best mommy.
Thank you mommy for being the best mom in the world and for taking such good care of me.
I plan to spend my Birthday tomorrow with my mommy and enjoy every minute of it.

Hi Everyone, I am Derek's Mommy. I just read what my sister wrote in Derek's diary and cried. She is right. I love my Derek with all my heart. He came to me just a like a baby, not being able to walk and had to wear diapers for a year. And just like a Mommy i saw my baby learn to walk and stop wearing diapers. Its been a long journey for both of us and my whole family who has been by my side helping me. Without them i would not have made it. I would do it all again if i had to. I never think of myself, my baby comes first. He can not tell me what hurts or is bothering him. So i have to guess and take him to the Vet. Derek i love you with all my heart and these past six years have been a learning experience and a joy. I have suffer and felt your pain in all your illnesses. But we have made it and i thank the good Lord for letting me be your mommy. I love you more than words can say Mommy is so happy to celebrate another year with you. I will give u lots of kisses and spend quality time with you on your birthday and always. Thanks to my sister Karen for writting on Derek's diary. Happy Birthday my precious boy. Love Mommy

I personally would have given you and your BRILLIANT mummy a PAWS UP THOUSANDS!!!! Wow Derek , you have made mummy cry with sadness.... YOUR STORY about your HORRIFIC past and with JOY... That you are now in a loving and very caring home!!! I wish you the BEST birthday EVER and I want to shower your mummy in licks of luv for giving you the chance on a very HAPPY life!!! have fun and treats and MOST IMPORTANTLY LOVE!!! :)
