Hello I'm David the African Grey. I love to escape from my cage, go free flying, flying around the house, eating my favorite food, having a wash, stood on my perch, playing with my toys and hanging upside down like a bat. I like to get out of my cage in the mornings, and go into mummy's room and wake her up (she doesn't like it so much :P). And I'm trying to learn some more Japanese, as my mummy is half Japanese, so I want to know a bit more. They go on holiday to Japan sometimes, staying with family, and if you look at my gallery, you'll see a few odd trinkets and things from Japan. Aslo, when they do go on holiday, I stay at the sanctuary that first rescued me, and it just so happens to be the one Derren Brown (you'll know him better if you live in England) keeps his two parrots when he's off touring :P So, a bit of celebrity spotting for you ^_^
Words David can say:
· Hello - said with several different inflections depending on his emotion at the moment
· Hi - he only says Hi in a whisper . . . and it's pretty endearing.
· Hi, Boo Boo
· Peek-a-Boo
· 'Night, 'Night - he never fails to say this at the end of the day before lights go out
· Bye, Bye
· WOW!
· I Love You - he learned this phrase one word at a time
· How does the duck go? - followed by a bunch of quacking
· Rock-a-Bye-David - he says the first words of this lullaby substituting his own name for "baby"
· Knock It Off - when everyone is having a scream-fest I hear him above the noise telling everyone to "knock it off". I bet you can guess who he learned that from.
· Fly - He loves to hang on the side of his cage and flap his wings while saying "fly" repeatedly. Actually, what he says is more like "fwy" where the "L" becomes a "W". It is really funny the way he pronounces it.
· Hop - David loves to hop. He will hop like a rabbit on any flat surface making about 3 to 4 jumps in a row. He repeats the word "hop" while hopping . . . "hop, hop, hop"
· Water - Sometimes when I bring his bowls he'll say "water" as a question, as if he were asking if it is water that he is getting.
· Ummmm! - As in "ummmm good".
· Good - David says "good" when his dish contains him favourite food.
· Sammy - The name of my other bird.
· What? Who's that? Oh you
· What do you want?
· Yes, whoohoo
· There, I've got it, I've got it
And a few odd Japanese words he throws together.
He also makes various sounds he’s picked up from computer games, and likes to sing “Ko ko ko ko, huh, ko ko ko ko, huh” a few times over.
