How I Arrived To My Family:
Arrival Story:
I had first adopted Freda Mae back on September 30, 2005...but less than a month later, she mistakenly bit my friend, Brittany, and I had to return her back to NABS. I was completely heartbroken (especially after loosing my boyfriend a few days prior to getting her, my dad let me get her as a replacement for him..bad idea). Three days after I had to return her to Noah's Ark Bayou Sanctuary...I was sent to live with my grandparents in Florida.... On January 7th, 2006 I fufilled a childhood dream and adopted my now close to 4 year old Golden Retriever, Kasey. and I spent a good 8-9 months with this darling girl. Then on November 4th, 2006...I went to Petco to find another dog, this time though, it would be a foster, who will also serve as a companion for Kasey.. and this was working out well.. the week of Christmas I was told that my grandfather was going to Nashville, to take a extra run for his job (he drives mail truck)...little did I know what was Really happening... Hey Guys, Most of you know that Freda has been living in Texas, out at the Sanctuary with all of her other pals, awaiting Me to come back when I become a professional dog trainer/canine behavior specialist this up coming year. Well, a couple of Saturday's ago, Me and grandpap, and grandma and Beth and Kasey all went up to the Bainbridge Humane Society, in Bainbridge GA, Where Beth and Kasey are from, to pick out yet another foster. Well, the orginal plan was to get another Golden Retriever that they had up there, but when they got there, they decided against it. So, the family went for a look at all the other dogs there at the shelter. They came across another eskimo mix, named "Belle" and then while strolling through the kennels, I came up to one cage and my heart stopped in my chest...there sat this little german shepher/blue heeler mix..but she looked just like Freda....I mean, just like her, so much in fact, that when I saw her, I burst into tears. It made me miss Freda so much more...because I hadn't seen her in over a year...that and I love her more than anything. So, I ended up sitting there on this floor and crying my eyes out. Tears just streaming down my face...like I am some mad person. well, here it is, about two weeks later, and it's almost christmas time, two more days.... well, I thought My grandfather had taken a extra mail run for his work and had gone to Nashville, and would be returning today. Well, this morning, he came home, and he had called and said that he visited his friend and his friend had given him some stuff, and that he needed our help unloading the stuff...so, I had to get up and everything and get dressed and then head outside. Well, as soon as I rounded the bend around the garage, I saw my grandfathers 2007 Chevy HHR's hood open..and saw what appeared to be a dog kennel door in the back...and I sat there, walking closer, and was going '"why does he have a dog kennel in the back of his car?" "there's a dog kennel in the back...why is it there?"...so I continued walking..and then I saw there, in the new dog kennel that we built, I saw a dog that resembled Freda and Sylena (the other dog in Bainbridge)..and I just was like "omg, is that Freda?" and then I saw her long legs and her beginning to bounce as she heard my voice, and I just covered my mouth and screamed "OMG" by the time I raced into the kennel..I just was crying...and I still wasn't quite sure it was her, until when she raced up to me, and began licking me, and rolled over and I saw her spay tatoo...I Knew for sure it was her..I just started crying. Then My grandfather told me that Pam, and Gaye and Damian all at NABS..had Freda Trained and Socialized for a whole week...she was housed with 11 dogs (this alone blows my mind..I was thinking..omg she didn't kill anyone of them?! LOL) and had some training. They made a video for me, I got to see Pam (who I miss so very much!!! She taught me so much about dogs and rescue..which i have found invaluable to my everyday life) and I got to see Damian, Freda's Trainer who also helps train some of our rescue dogs at a discounted price, with Freda and he told me a little bit of what he found out about Freda...and then I had a letter from Gaye...who had paid for this training for my baby...and I tell you what I cried...and cried. I NEVER expected this...never in a million years did I expect my grandfather to drive the near 800 miles (one way trip...that's close to 1,600 round trip) to Houston Texas to pick up my Freda Mae...but he did...and there is no words to express the happiness that i have right now..and to see her, playing with another dog...and I mean playing. Kasey is the jealous one, stirring up the trouble and setting Freda off..but it'll be alright. i Have the next two weeks off work to work with the dogs..and for this i am grateful. Freda's agression has been officially recongized as "fear agression" which I have known all along..but now I'm going to have some training and more experience in this stuff. It's going to be a long road to get all the peace back in this house, but It will be worth it. Freda is worth it..just like Kasey was worth all I've been through..and Beth is worth it. Freda is worth everything...I love her and am thrilled to have her back... =) Thank you to Gaye for paying for her training....and Pam for taking care of her for me, and Damian for working with her. Thank you to my grandparents for caring enough about me to go all the way out to texas to get Freda for me, for christmas..I wish I could show everyone this video...and if i can, I will..I am also going to be posting the new pics of Freda up soon..these are LONG AWAITED. But i just wanted to tell everyone about this happy renunion..and yes, Freda remembered who i was...and is still very much attached to me. =) Brie
Bio:
Freda WAS Dog/Food/Toy aggressive. Pam, at NABS, rescued her from being euthanized and they had her in the back room saying she was aggressive. They never gave her a good enough chance. When I first saw Freda I immediatly bonded with her and have earned the nickname "Freda Mae's Momma". I remember walking past the kennel when Pam was showing us the new guys and she said "And she's aggressive so she is by herself" I answered "I think I've found my new favorite dog." (My favorite had been adopted.) Freda likes, well is in the habit of growling at other dogs if they are near me in a close radius but we have discovered that in open areas she is fine. LOL.. but if you wonder why she is called "Demon Dog" well that is for a couple of reasons one is that Danielle at Petco named her that bacause of how she sounds when she growls and some say she sounds like the "Exorcist", to me? she is the perfect dog for me! I Love you Freda!!****UPDATE AGAIN**** Freda had to be returned to N.A.B.S. because she bit my friend (not on purpose though) and my parents made me return her. I love her still and care for her always...NO MATTER WHAT SHE DOES!!! Freda, momma loves you!! ****DECEMBER 23, 2006**** Freda has been socialized and trained for a week...before she came to live with me again. Thank you to Gaye Hart who donated the money to have this training done. Thank you to Damian who was her trainer. Thank you to Pam for letting her come to Florida to live with her Mama. Thank you to my grandfather for loving me enough to go get her and bring her here to me. I am very excited about this and she is doing wonderfully!!
