Nicknames:
Sam, Sammy, Sam the Shepherd
How I Arrived To My Family:
He was a stray dog that was out on a freezing ice storm night. Our son told us about him running around by his house for about five days and being fed by all the neighbors there. When the ice storm hit, we went to find him to get him out of the cold. We wrapped him in a blanket and brought him home with us. He took to us immediately and to our home, as if he had lived here all his life. We notified the shelter and the local vets but no one had a report about a missing dog. We think he was dropped off at the park near my son's house. He is so sweet that we can't imagine a family trying to get rid of him that way. Our vet said he was about 8 months old. He is now the boss of all the other, older pets here, and he rules the roost, but they all love him, too. He now has a forever home and will live happily ever after here!
My Personality:
I am the biggest baby ever, at least that is what my Momma and Poppa says about me. I love everything and everybody....except I wasn't too crazy about my furry brother, Benji-R.I.P., when he was here with us. We fought over the right to be the boss of the Pets all the time, but of course, I always won! Heeheehee!
My Tricks:
I luvs to play catch with my ball. That is my favorite trick.
Favorite Food:
You name it....it's my favorite food!
Favorite Treats:
Cheese and doggie biscuits are my favorite treats. Yummy, yum-yum!
Favorite Walk:
Anywhere that my Momma wants to take me is my favorite walk! I love to go and go and go. I never get tired. Also, I am the only one of all us dogs that has enough sense not to run away if we get loose. I never leave the driveway or yard....not me! I know a good life when I see it....and I'm staying with my Momma and Poppa forever!
Favorite Toys:
My soft plastic yellow nubby ball is my favorite toy, but I also like my red ball and the white baseball is okay, too. The blue ball (raquet ball) is too hard so I leave that one alone most of the time. Now the other yellow ball....the tennis ball is pretty great and fun for playing catch. I guess you could say that my favorite toy is a ball....yeah....that would be right!
Favorite Activities:
Playing catch....that's the best game there is....next to chasing the two cats around the house and yard.
A Typical Day:
Oh boy! My day starts at daybreak and doesn't end till midnight...or whenever Poppa goes to bed at night, because I follow him and Momma around everywhere they go. I take lots of potty breaks and play in the yard, but I don't like being out in the yard unless Momma and Poppa are there. Basically, I don't like to be out of ear-shot or where I can't see them ALL the time. Yes, I am quite spoiled, but I give back the love two-fold! I spend part of the day sleeping but mainly I am playing.
Happiest Moment:
Of course, this is an easy one....my happiest moment was when Momma found me out in the horrible ice storm, wrapped me up in a warm blanket, and held me in the back seat of the car while Poppa took us to my new forever home. I loved my new parents from that very second more than anything in the whole world. I am a very lucky dog to have been found and given such a great second chance on life!
Favorite House Spot:
Ha! My favorite spot is right smack in the middle of MY King Size Bed which I so kindly share with my Momma and Poppa. I get to lay cross-ways if I want...upside down and stretched out as long as I can reach. The parents get whatever is left over. That's pretty fair of me, wouldn't you agree?
Places I Have Visited:
I go everywhere that Momma and Poppa go in the car, but I have to stay inside the car and watch over my Poppa while Momma runs around doing errands. We like that way better than running errands, anyway. The Vets office is about the only place I go and get OUT of the car, except for the Doggie Park. Now, that's a cool place to go!
Things I Own:
I am the King of the house so everything in it is mine, mine, mine! No matter what all the other Pets say, everything is MINE!
My Little Mischiefs:
I hate telling on myself, but I do stir up a little trouble every now and then. I chase Little Bit, the outside cat when I am out in the backyard. Don't tell Momma, though, please! I also had quite a few scrapes with my brother dog, Benji, about who was the boss, but now he is over the Rainbow Bridge, and you know what? I miss that litter rascal, too. I also take snacks away from my sister dog, Keesie, every chance I get, so Momma has to kennel them up to feed them and give them treats.
My Health:
Well, I am not all that healthy, sad to say. I have a skin disease and have had it for a couple years. The Vet gives me special medicated shampoo, but it never helps for long. I am loosing weight and my hair is starting to fall out again, and I am always itching and scratching, so that means more trips to the Vet for me, untill they can figure out what is causing all of this to keep happening to me.
