Cats need ID Tags, too

"Animal shelters throughout the country take in millions of lost cats each year and 99 out of 100 of these cats have no identification. Less than three out of 100 lost cats are reclaimed by their owners, and usually one of those three has an identification tag. The owners of the other two cats end up spending hours, days and even weeks looking for their lost cats and personally visiting every animal shelter in their area. Most owners of lost cats search long and hard, and never find their cats at all.

Don't risk losing your feline friend forever. Please put a collar on your cat and an identification tag with your name, address and phone number. Be sure to keep the information current. You'll want to tag your cat even if you never let it go outside because there is always the chance that it could slip through an open door or window and become lost.

There are collars made especially for cats with a short piece of elastic sewn in. These "break-away" collars can be buckled snugly around the cat's neck, but will stretch and let the cat escape if it should get hung up on a tree limb or fence. It's important to remember that many more cats have died because they were lost and their owners couldn't find them, than have ever been injured from wearing a collar.

The first time you put a collar on your cat, give it a catnip-filled toy. The toy will distract the cat's attention from the odd feeling of wearing a collar and by the time it finishes shredding the toy, it may have forgotten the collar entirely. "

Momma always thinks about that. All three of us wear collars, she should really get us ID tags. Maybe she will start looking online now :)

Yeah we need collars. We had some but we outgrew them, they were our kitten collars and now we need adult collars and tags.

Yeah, we are not aloud outside unless mommy dedicates some kitty play time where she lets us on the porch and watches us. It's still good to have a nametag though.

Mom tries to bring me and sosuke out on a leash but I don't like it outside and Sosuke doesn't like the harness yet. He'll get used to it, though. I doubt I ever will. The window is all the outside I need, thank you.

Hehe, if we didn't like it outside we would never go. The only reason we get play time is because we sit by the door waiting for it to open. Mom bought a harness but I was much too big for it :)

Yeah, mom's probably not gonna take me out anymore and she'll just take Sosuke out because he likes it. If the doors open he goes out just like he's allowed. He seems to do it mostly at night and mom really doesn't like that, lol.

If I was an outdoor kitty, I would have to have a licence too. It's a by-law in our town, both cats and dogs must be licenced and you are limited to only 3 cats and 3 dogs.

If they had all their cats before the law came into effect, than they can keep them. They just can't replace them ...if they follow the letter of the law. lol I'm sure there are some out there who don't. My auntie's brother just lost his kitty Stewie (14 years) to diabeties, but since his roommate has 4 cats and 1 dog, he lawfully can't replace his cat. You've got to watch out for the Dog/Cat Catcher. 0.o

That's a good law about the licenses. Here you can get a cat license but there's no law. It's completely optional. Mom's probably gonna get us licenses when they renew the dog's licenses though because that would make it easier to get us home if we got lost. Here you can own 5 pets(cats and dogs) with only 4 of the same species. Though a lot of people break that law.

I think a few break that law here to, but there was surprisingly little protest about the law.

Good thing my town doesn't have a 3 cat limit law (at least I hope they don't) :-)

lol, yeah when mom moves in with her friends(sometime soon) she'll be one cat over the limit because she has both of us and one of her friends has three cats as well.
