Jack

These are the TERRIBLE living conditions i've been subject to while my homes being built...

...ok so it's not that bad but it's not what i'm used to either! :P

Heres the progress on the habitat...

Will get more done tomorrow! :)

Not been making updates lately :S I havn't actually been working on it much...I had completed the following within several hours...

Well I thought i'd put up a few pictures that show a little more detail of what I did incase anyone wanted to attempt their own...

The essentials...pen, ruler, knife and measuring tape

I've burnt in detail and fixed the peices together since my last update

I broke the sticks in half so they were easier to insert.

Used expanding foam to fix peices together properly and re-shape the corner...

After about an hour when it had dried somewhat, I cut away the excess...

and sanded it down...

Which left me with this

I've started on the hides which shouldn't take too long to do... will make another update when i've made progress on that...

I know i've left this wayyy late but i started this forum so by gum i'm going to finish it!!!

The next stage was creating the hides, I used cocktail sticks or PVA to fix the peices together the once again used a lighter to burn in rocky detail...

Then it was time to grout it!!!
these are the items i used for the job..

This is the grout I used though any grout will do...

While mixing it I also added paint so I could see where applied it! (acrylic water based!!!)

First layer on...

After applying 4 layers it was time for the sand..

For this I used waterproof PVA and Exo-Terra desert sand (mixing red and yellow together)

I applied PVA to a section of the habitat then sprinkled on the sand

I did four layers of this then left it to dry for 24 hours... afterwards I hoovered up the excess and fitted it all in the terrarium.

Last stage was adding the gecko lol

The two habitats (Jack on the left the girls on the right and the snakes below lol)...

and Jacks first picture in it!

So far he seems impressed :P I will next concentrate on a fake desert habitat for future baby geckos (for this one I will not be using sand).

I have a question.  With all those hidey spots, how does the human know where to clean the poop?  I'm sure Peanut is also anxiously awaiting the answer.

The top hides are removeable! So I can peek inside lol. The top hides also only have one wall (the one you see) so once they're removed they're easy to inspect! :P Plus the geckos seem to poo every but in the hides lol!
