Baby Chick found in dumpster
My mom found a baby chick in the dumpster at her workplace (lead custodian in Elementary school). The way she explained it seemed heartbreaking itself.
The children were hatching their own eggs that we to become little baby chicks for a project. (I guess) But some didn't come out as the teacher expected. The teacher put Pete (that's what I named him 8D) into a Ziploc bag, sealed it up, and threw him into the dumpster so he could suffocate to death....
The teacher threw him out because his leg was deformed. Oh yes, because it's deformed, he's GOT to go, right? So my mom, the animal lover, opened the Ziploc bag and Pete breathed for air like you would never imagine. She decided to put him into a box with a towel, and take him home. But what we thought was: what in the world are we going to do with a baby chick?
My sister told me that chicks don't survive, and since Pete's leg was deformed enough to make him scream in pain, we didn't think he'd make it at all. :( And she was right. When I came home, I was excited and eager to check on Pete, but when I saw him, I wanted to cry. My sister said he was fine a couple of minutes ago, so we don't know what happened. Too much pain it seems. :(
But all I said was, "At least he didn't die being suffocated in that dumpster. At least he got to see the world another day." I then got into my room, and started to cry.
I didn't think I'd get attached to the little guy in one day. Maybe it's my true love for chickens.

it's so sad to think a teacher who is responsible for being a role model to children,m would actually put a baby chick in a ziplock bag to suffocate to death. how cruel. your mama is great for giving Pete a day to live out his life, as short as it was, you did the right thing. RIP Pete |

Thanks, guys. today I almost cried during class because I was thinking about Pete. And the thing that made me sad the most was that he was in a lot of pain. He wouldn't stop crying and crying because his leg was that deformed. Rest in Peace, Pete :(
