SEXY Man Kiko

As most of you know I am now 1 1/2 years old. I may look full grown but I am still very playful and love to get in to things. I do not know what is good and what is bad for me. I rely on mom for that. I cannot rely on JJ to teach me right from wrong or good from bad.

Anyways back one morning in July mom noticed I was not Kiko. I refused to eat and would hide under mom's bed. I got to go to the doctor who gave me medicine and some fluids. Within a few days I seemed good as new. We finished up my medicine and that was the end of my story .... or so we thought.

Well this past Monday night mom noticed it again. She took me back to the doctor on Tuesday. They gave me medicine and some fluids again. Mom went to work and by the time she came home I appeared good as new. Mom spoke to the doctor who told her to continue to give me my medicine. It was believed I possibly had pancreas problems with possible allergies. The solution was take the rest of my medicine and switch my food.

Well I could live with that and got really spunky and seemed to be getting better. In fact I even look all better now. One problem though. And this is the gross part but also the important part. Yes very graphic - but the reality of it is my point.

When mom got up this morning she found what she initially thought was diahhrea in the kitty box.

Sorry I know this picture is really gross and not the best thing to look at but it is really mine - so I thought it was important to share

Well she soon learned that was not what it was.  She found out that this long thing had a knot on both ends and was about 55" long. After soaking it for the longest time the color started to come through. Mom learned it was a string belt from her silk kimona type bath robe that she had hanging in her closet.

It was very hard for mom to believe I had ingested that. The doctor said it is possible that I had ingested this back in July and it went undetected until now. They say I am one " lucky" boy to be still here to tell the story because the string could have gotten strangulated and wrapped around my intestines.

The reason I am showing you this is because never ever doubt that it couldn't happen to you. Mom takes very good care of all of us but is totally baffled at how such a thing could have happened to me - but is also very glad that I passed this ugly thing.

Have I learned not to do this again - probably not - after all I am only a cat. I bet mom will double check and make sure all closets are closed and that I can't get in from now on.

So  I just wanted to give you a few quick warning signs to look out for.

1) This can happen to a cat or a dog

2) Know your pets normal behaviors so you can know when they are not normal

3) Depression, vomiting and/or diarrhea, dehydration, loss of appetite

I'm glad you're ok after swallowing that.  it does remind mama of me cause I have a tendency of chewing plastic bags and you guessed it...they come out in my poopies.  mama gets so upset with me when I do this, but I still do it

We are so glad to hear you are ok after swallowing that.  Mama gets upset with me although I have gotten better. But when I was 10 months old I knocked down 3 glass xmas bulbs and before Mom noticed I ate them. We had to call the vet and was told if I passed blood to get me right to them immediately. But I was lucky and am alright. I have swallow, nails, stones, anything I could get my paws on. But now Mama has finally gotten me to quit. Now we have to watch Marissa like a hawk. But we are so glad you were able to pass it and are going to be ok.

Kiko, you really ARE lucky. Mom found out ages ago that cats do not have a gag reflex. One Christmas she found me swallowing  piece of ribbon I dragged off the tree.  SHe sat and pulled and pulled and pulled until she got it out of my stomach. Yeah, that was pretty gross too.  Also, Christamas tree tinsle can cut our intestines to shreads man; they are very narrow (tiny) so be careful not to get that in your mouth man.

I love ribbon and string and will eat it any opportunity I get!  Just the other day my human was embroidering and left a piece of embroidery floss about 8 inches long on the bed.  I just bided my time and when she got up to go ask someone in the other room a question, I saw my opportunity and ate it up!  I was sitting prettily by the time she came back.  My human couldn't believe I'd gotten it so fast.  I hope she leaves some more around soon but she mumbled something about learning her lesson.  I'm not sure what she meant by that.  There was no teacher there.

Oh geez, glad you're alright Kiko! So far, I haven't eaten anything I'm not supposed to *that Typist knows of!* Aside from the occasional...birdy dropping. *is very embarassed* LOL But last winter Guppie nearly swallowed 2 rocks from the bottom of the tank! Typist had this happen to a fish Digger *the name suited him XD* a few years before, so she knew how to get it out. The most humane thing that Typist and the local Petsmart could think of was to hold Guppie underwater, and use a tweezers to get it out. How they wedge those rocks into their mouths is still a mystery. The false alarms scare Typist quite a bit though- Guppie has a tendency to pick up the rocks and carry them to a different part of the tank and spit them out...he sure knows how to keep her on her toes! You can read the full stories in Guppie's updates.

I'm so glad you are okay!  That was a pretty scary looking thing that you swallowed.  It sure is a good thing that it came out!   I never even realized that pets ate some of the stuff I have read about here, so I know that Momma will be more observant of what us pets get into from now on.  I would have really hated to lose my Kiko Pal!

Oh my goodness Kiko o.0 I can't believe you ate that! You poor kitty boy *give kitty licks* I bet you are full of hijinks now that that tie is no longer snaking through your intestines. I've not eaten anything I shouldn't...at least not that auntie is aware of, but my brother used to have a liking for mint dental floss and auntie had to watch him close and make sure the floss was always in the closed garbage.
