Pikapet needs to be more active in the community: that's what it all really comes down to.

Perhaps if they did they would realize that most pets enjoyed such pages, and did not want them deleted. And if Pikapet doesn't care what it's members want,then what sort of site is this?

I understand that this is a pet site; therefore technically pages should only be for pets. But surely these page are just harmless fun compared to "fakes": which ARE, unlike contests, wedding pages and whatever else,against the rules and illegal. C'mon, Pink P, get your priorities straight- get rid of those fakes, put it in the rules if you really want the other pages gone, THEN delete them.

Also, to people who still have such pages, I suggest you save the information on the page, such as the About Me HTML in a Word Document, to be on the safe side.

The one sentence that truly sums how I feel about Pikapet is this:

"I for one love Pikapet and think it's a great idea, under poor management."

Great words, Boomer, so true. With such a diverse community, things aren't going to always be peaceful, and we need moderation! Pikapet, please moderate the forums better,or perhaps choose people to do so! Many people on this site would make great admins/mods.

Other pet sites are often accused of being too strict- the opposite is true of Pikapet. Can't we find a happy medium?

Exactly. 3 hours of work put into a page just to have it deleted isn't my idea of "Pet Fun".

As for myself leaving, I most likely wont. (Not without an answer; Or forcing all 40 of the pets in my sunflower photo, and more to relocate with me!)

I agree with all of the posters above and like Boston said, Pikapet needs to be more active and aware of what is happening in this community. People obviously enjoyed wedding, party, and contests pages, but since the creator of this site isn't on to monitor and find out what people do enjoy, they decide to take actions themselves and take the fun away. Before you take wedding, party, contests, etc pages away, you need to get rid of the fakes. I see a countless number of fakes on this site and seriously, I'm ready to blow! Adding fun pages like Maile, Boomer and other users did is NOT in the guidelines and there is no rule against it. Now for fakes, that is illegal and I don't see you taking responsibility in deleting those pets that don't deserve to be on Pikapet.

The forums are CRAZY most of the time.  I know people will have their opinions and we may not all agree with a person, but with a simple statement or opinion, it gets way out of proportion. As I have private messaged you twice, I believe, about suggesting site moderators to look after the forums and shut threads down that are getting out of hand. That could be your job, actually, but you rarley come into the forums. There are many people that would be suitable for the moderator job. You just need to come here and pay attention and actually think about making that decision.

I would like a site that isn't too strict with rules but has enough to maintain balace in the community. Right now, I would just say Pikapet is chaos.

You know I will say one more thing to pikapet directly. I saved you the problem of having to delete my birthday page that I just remade last night - since there were only 6 pet in it.

But if you had given us (the community) the groups we asked for over and over we would not be doing our community work like this.

Almost all other sites have groups.

I also wonder Pikapet if you have any awareness of how what you have done has affected your community in a negative manner.

We have pets blaming pets for the disappearance of my contest pages, insinuations that I might have deleted my own pages etc etc etc.

You should have at least sent a message or done a forum letting us know what happened to the pages that we spent endless hour making and that are not anywhere against the TOS. It sure could have avoided a lot of accusations and ill feelings and drama among your community.
 

For anyone who is interested I will be setting up my Contest Corner in a group on petsplaces - Just give me some time and more energy to get it going.

Yes, I am very curious as to why Pikapet doesn't have any groups if a number of people have requested it? I know it may take some time, but if it was awhile ago that basically the whole community requested it - it should've been done by now.

Yes, I have requested that two times and I think others have requested it too. The majority of the active pets would like alot more done to this site and unfortunatly we aren't getting anything right now....

There has to be an explanation from Pikapet as to why we aren't receiving some of the things we have requested for the site.

My opinion about fake pets is this- Letters should not be added, nor any objects. Only real pets should be allowed. A pet should NOT be removed until there is definite, 100% proof the pet is fake. Pets should only be removed if the picture is of another user's pet, or the picture is of another website. If there is no definite proof, the user should be allowed to stay. If another user just thinks the user is fake because they only have one or two pictures, that is still not definite proof the pet is fake. The user may not have had a chance to upload more pictures yet. Or, if on the profile the age is 1 year old, and the picture is of a young puppy, kitten, baby animal, and so on, that does not mean they are fake. It may mean the user had to give the pet up when t was a puppy, and only has the puppy pictures. They would have the real age up, even if there are no adult pictures. Users should be innocent until proven guilty... real until proven fake.

My opinion on removal of the contest, wedding, and all those pages is this- They should not be removed. They should be ale to stay. The pages are all for fun. Nothing bad is happening on those pages. They are simply to host a place for us users to have fun. Malie Nei has put so much work into the contest pages, only to have them removed? She has made them safe and drama free. Everyone is nice to each other on there, only to have the pages removed by pikapet? That, in my opinion, is not good. And boomer is only trying to make weddings easier, make them run smooth. The page did no harm. He even said if anyone had a problem with the page to let him know, and it seemed nobody had a problem with the page, therefore it should be allowed to stay.

I think Pikapet has made a poor decision in removing these pages, and I hope they allow them o come back.

I just have noticed that every pet site DOES have groups. why not pikapet?? no harm done and maile nei and boomer all of you im sorry myself that hours of hard work gone. i wish we all knew the real reason. :)

BOL @ Cocoa! Well there is certainly no room for lazyness here. The community can't do anything without the creators acceptance and willingness to do it. When you are a creator of a site, you need to be able to fufill the communities needs.....There is waaay more pets joining then there was when I joined and that means the demand will grow bigger and bigger.

Pikapet, I think there is a serious lack of communication between us members and yourself. Please respond to this forum, say anything to let us know you're still there and you still care!!!! This lack of communication is causing great confusion within the community, you could atleast let us know if you're taking our ideas into consideration instead of ignoring us all. Be more invloved within the community, we'd love to hear from you! :)

I agree with you Boomer 100%, these contest, party etc pages are not against pikapets terms but the fake profiles are! "You must not, in the use of Pikapet, violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws)."

It does not make sense to delete these positive contributions to pikapet and keep the fake profiles.

I don't agree with the whole contest page thing....the site was never really meant for people to make pages for silly things like weddings and such.  That is something that has aggrevated me since my days on Dogster.

Though I do think Pikapet should look for the fakes instead.

I am sorry to hear your wedding page has gone Boomer and I am also sorry for you Maile for spending all those hours making the contest pages for nothing now!!!

Tinkerbelle is spot on when she mentioned the PORN incident and how slow pikapet were to respond to it and yet Boomers page is gone in a flash ( I didn't get to even look at it!) , I hope pikapet E mails you directly ( everypet who has made a fun page) with an explanation as to why, because like you state it isn't against the rules!! 

I also have to agree with Boomers point about staying here because of friends, I couldn't leave here because I would miss my friends very very much!!

 I do Love pikapet but also feel that they should make their presence more prominent and frequent in the community!

Unfortunately, I have very little time to spend on any site within the Online Community.  I can therefore understand how difficult it is for Pikapet Authorities to consistently manage such a large and growing group of pets as they have here.  But what they need to understand is (if we can get it through to them) what they have unwittingly created is somewhat of a phenomenon, at least it is to all that I have attempted to describe this place to.  A common interest (love of animals) has bonded a collage of very intelligent and wonderful people together and they have grown as a family (one of which I am simply blessed to be a member of) to care for each other and coexist in what is a community that exists only in the Heart and Mind.  And there is no place in "reality" more perfect than that.  Pikapet needs to comprehend that their creation is EVOLVING and in doing so it is a success to its creator in every way.... but with this progression there has to be watchful leadership and rules with the leniency to change.  As well as strong and swift actions to those things that need no banter or discussion in their apparent malice!  Any group can discuss a topic right into the dust - completely destroying all hope of a deserved punishment, or reward (that is why I stay out of almost all debates.)  There must be an over-all decision by someone (administrators) that must take the time to be observant and make clean judgements allowing what is obviously the makings of an ethereal civilization (i.e., Wedding Coordinators, Contest Corner, Travel Agents... etc.) to take place as it has since the Roman Era and before.  And take pleasure, also, in the great success of what was once just a "cute idea".  Think Pikapet, wouldn't it be fun to strive for the sound judgements of good King Solomon in your very own Kingdom!?  Hmmm???     Although, I would stick beside my friends even until chaos reigned....  

so very true,  any civilization without discipline and guidance will not succeed for very long. It will need direction and goal. We have seen evidence of this very thing already. Pets changing rules, deciding on their own what should be allowed and what shouldn't be. The longer authority stays uninvolved the worse we will see. It will be like when rome burned more or less. But than again, depending on the strengh of the people it could also mean the birth of a new era! lol
