HELP! Rocky Needs Help!!!

ok guys, my beloved rock dog has sumthing wrong with him. me and daddy are very worryed. he is making a noise with his throat. its very hard to describe over the computer. it sounds like a hacking noise. kindda like the noise he makes when he pukes, but he hasnot puked at all. he has been doin this scence at least the 24th (today is the 27th) he's doing it at least 10xs a day. he has violent spasums like he is trying to get sumthing up. he's been eating fine and drinking fine, pooping fine everything. but the noise is consering us. on another topic, he is allergic to flees. when they bit him, he gets a rash and he also itches it so much that he actual creates huge open sores (however he gets the sores with out him irritationg it, this is known b/c of breakouts he has had in places he couldnt scratch, like the top of his head) right now he had a big open sore on his neck. i dont know if the to could be related. if anyone has any relavent information please let mommy and daddy know. aside from replying to this post, you can reash mommy by email at Angeleyez62905@yahoo.com please use the subject "pikapet friends" so mommy doesnt think it is spam. thank you so much for your help. we are hoping rocky gets well soon

I am so sorry to hear this, have you called the vets? Maybe he swallowed something that may be stuck in his asphogas (not sure if I spelled that right). please let us know

what you find out. I am very concerned about my dear friend rocky.

that is what we were thinking, that he swallowed sumthing he wasn't sposta. we dont have money for a vet, thats why we came on here to see what we could find out. daddy said if he doesnt get better we will bring him, even if we dont have the money to pay for it. but if sumthing  is stuck in his throught, what should we do??

my dog also occasionally makes weird sounds. The vet described them to me as "reverse coughing" which he said is very common in dogs especially when they get excited. cause i thought pippy had parvo or kennel cough but then i took her to the vet about the problem and the vet told me it is reverse coughing, but just on the safe side take rocky to the vet to make sure 100%  i hope he get well so soon

Rocky

well i got really excited when i read this but the only reason it doesnt fit, is b/c he has never done it b4 this week. i mean ocatialy he hacks up sumthing , or makes that noise after he ate his food, but not for days ina row with out actual coughing sumthing up. and its not when he gets excited (althou he does do that when he gets really excited sumtimes) this is diffrent. im thinking of calling the vet later and just asking, and if they tell me to bring him in, just tell then i have no money. sumtimes they have payment plans, even thou we cant really afford that either, BUT WHAT I REALLY CANT AFFORD IS TO LOSE MY ROCK MONSTER

Thankfully rocky stopped. pretty much 2 or 3 days after i posted this. i dont know why it stoped, but i dont know why it started either. but what i was saying about his scab on his neck, i think it did have sumthing to do with it, b/c once we stoped him from scratching it, and it got a chance to heal, the ... "noise" has stoped.  we r still listening to his breathing, but he seams ok now.

thank you everyone for your well wishes, and prayers :) i love my pikapals :)

You should call a vet xD

If you were on a walk on with him and you wanted him to heel or you pulled him away when he was chasing something you might of injured his thoart and now he does that sound.

I had a pom/chihuahua mix that lived 18 years and had sounded like the dog in pippy's video, Rocky you might have ashma. But you won't know for sure until you see a vet.

i would think so, but it started one day and ended like 45 days later. it was weird. but i had been scratching my neck like there was no 2morrow, mommy thinks my neck was swolen (even thou it didn't look swolen, but i have a very large neck area) and that made me make that noise. you guys on here came up with a lot of good ideas thou. mommy thought i was going to do it forever. thank goodness i stopped itching/irritating my boo-boo

You also might have bordatella { Kennel cough }

Jasmine had that once, Ofc, That was Mostly MY FAULT... The shelter that I volunteer at had a dog that had it, and I brought it home with me on my clothes { I've also managed to bring home Fleas a few times as well !! LOL

If it is kennel cough, its just treated with antibiotics { Its simaller to bronchitis, only not as bad, is treated with antibiotics from the vet. }

my friend rocky! poor guy:( hrrm.. listen to his chest to see if there is any congestion and the like, wierd crackling sounds or anything out of the normal (this is why momma always has a stethoscope).. then maybe you'd know if its in his chest or throat.. if its in his chest he also might have an upper respiratory infection or some type of chest infection like the others mentioned, i really would check with a vet

also check to make sure his collar isn't too tight, in the heat we all swell a little more than normal.

i dont wear a collar indoors (i love being nakkie :D) b/c dad got this evil training collar that makes me behave better. ive been using it scence summer 06, an i still aint trained! it looks like this but it leaves a gray mark on my neck when i use it alot, so mom and dad take it off when im inside

Peanut aka Peanutlicious
my friend Rock'o has that same collar...it looks evil....BTW Rock'o still isn't properly trained yet collar & all.  we have regular choker collars cause the nylon ones tend to slip offf our necks if we pull real hard, but mama learned from Cesar Milan the right way to walk us so we dont pull so now we have a nylon collar & a choker collar, she chooses which to use.  the nylon collars are more for special occasions we have Christmas ones, Valentines Day ones you get the gist...glad you are feeling better and mama loves the shades

Candi

I agree with everyone else, I would take Rocky to the vet because it could be serious. Pippy, Candi does the SAME thing! Whenever she gets excited she will sort of let out a "snort" from reverse coughing and she mostly does it when she is happy. I took her to the vet and that is also what the vet said. Candi does it like the video you showed but makes a little more "snorting" noise to it. Rocky's cause can be very serious so i would take him to the vet as soon as you can because you never know what could happen to your poor Rocky.

I hope you get better soon Rocky!

Rocky

yes im very glad rocky is ok, b/c i dont know what i would do if sumthing happened to rocky. if he hadn't stoped coughing, he was on his way (to the vets). but right after i posted this he stared doing it less (aint that the way it goes), but we have been keeping an eye on him, b/c we want to see if it started again, or if he did sumthing, and it started again.  he is so funny when we go to the vet. there is a shaws across the street from the vet, so he gets all nerviouse and sheep dog like when we go to shaws. ill never forget we went to drop off some paper work once, and when we came back to the car, he was sitting dead still in the passenger seat, with a pair of sunglasses on (er, his auntie kerri did that, not him) but we always tryed to do stuff like that, and he NEVER went for it, but i guess he felt a need to be incogneto (donno if i spelled tha right) here is a photo

Aww, poor little rocky. I would call the vets, they can give you the best advice and treatment. You don't want this to get any worse than it is, so go to the vet. Keep us updated, and you are in our prayers.
