Bruno
Things to have in mind before deciding on having a new pet...

Mommy says it is not so simple as just getting a partner for Bruno, she talks costs, time, food, holidays and all kind of things to worry about...any one have insights on helping me understand why is not only about getting to the pet shop and falling in love??

I was once the only kid in the house(an apartment actually), until i had 8 puppies...my mommy had no choice but to have me & my pups there for 2 months....yes its expensive, yes we ask for a lot of time but my mommy says the more love from us the better...and that compensates for the extra money, time, food etc...now its me, Peanut & Smokey and a slew of outside cats she takes care of (about 7 now & more on the way) but she would not hesitate to bring another one into our happy home

There are a lot of pets that need good homes but you do have to be careful that you would be able to pay for any medical care and other expenses had they come up unexpected. Other than that all you need is two extra food dishes and a place in your heart.

Well, maybe another pal just Bruno yourself could be a bit of a hassle, think about the space you have, how big is your house and would they have space to play??, also about the time that you can spend with the new baby, and what about VACATIONS, when you go out with your family, who will take care of the babies, 2 big babies!! you also have to think about the taming, and yes, unfortunately sometimes we need to go to the doctor and that is also a high cost...what about another type of pet? Maybe a smaller friend for Bruno?? Have you thought about that?? What about a rabbit, I hear that they are ok with doggies...OR A FERRET!!!, or even maybe a hamster...just ideas...but don’t get sad if mommy says that is not exactly the right time, just concentrate on giving Bruno double the love!!

Please keep in mind that if yu make a purchase at a pet store yu will most likely have a few (if not more) doctor bills right off...I Had another sister before Dusty Trails and she was very sick...She came from a pet store and came with a vet checked (every week) clean bill of health!!! 2 weeks of strong antibiotics and she was still very sick. My mommy had to bring her back because the Vet said it might take MONTHS for her to get healthy! Please be very careful when making purchases from a pet store most of them are sick animals, puppy mill animals or become sick quickley from the other animals.

The dog that my aunty got was from a pet shop and she had parvos disease. They spent a fortune at the vets making her well. There are so many pets in shelters that will be put to sleep unless they can find forever homes.

I came from a shelter. I'm so glad my mommy came & picked me. The shelter I was in is a no kill shelter, but I would not want to be in there too long. A lot of people are looking for little puppies, when there are so many loving adult dogs that need homes too.

We will get our next dog from a shelter, but I think Paco likes being the only child for now.

Getting another pet does involve more time and money. You really need to make sure you are ready to deal with whatever you bring home. Some dogs or cats(mostly dogs) look so cute but when you get them home they may not be the type you want. Take Cujo for example my mommy fell in love with him when she saw him, but as he got older he got a little more hyper than she thought he would be. He didn't seem that way when she saw him though. She still loves him very much, though she just has to take a little extra time and put it into his training. Also, I came from a pet shop and right off the bat I had to go to the vets. I had Kennel Cough. The pet stores like petsmart, etc. have their prices so high. They ought to have their animals in excellent condition for the prices they ask for. I was $900 and my mommy still had to pay alot at the vets after I came home.

Big dogs need to be trained more than a small dog. And yes the vet bills... If i got sick, my parents would do whatever it took to get me well. So think about money. Dogs need as much attention as small children, so be sure your mommy can handle another "child". My mommy has 4 human kids and 2 dogs. Anymore and we would probably have to put her in the nut house... Yes, she treats us just like her kids. We go everywhere. Walmart, the mall, out to eat... You name it, i go...
