Well you are getting more for your money with the cat, cause they can weigh up to 30lbs, which works out to $733 per pound. Yorkies weigh maybe 2 or 3lbs, so that works out to $1,000 or $666 per lb. The bigger your Yorkie the less per pound it costs. lol |

wow! why dont people just adopt one out and help save a life. I dont see the point of spending so much on a pet unless it meant saving their lives. |

mommy said she don't care if they are hypoallergenic...for that money they's better cook, clean, sing & dance. oh & clean their own litterbox....or at least come already toilet trained.....BTW Trixie, I guess that didn't work out too well for you, the potty training |

Ruby, Kalli replied to you haha... well, even IF they are "hypoallergenic" thats still way to much to pay for a cat...imagine buying it and the next day it dies...that would seriously suck! if it was something that would last almost forever, then ya I guess thats ok....srsly, if I had the choice to choose those cats or a house iwth that money, it would be the house haha. I rather pay $25 on a cat at the shelter.... but it would be awesome to have a 30lb cat.... |

if it's like it is with some breeders, if they die within a certain amount of time or turn out to have a disease that they missed, you can get another kitten or at least a rebate or partial refund. and they're so expensive not just because they're "designer" animals and some of the cost of r&d gets passed on to the consumer, but because they are very carefully "vetted" indeed. producing hybrids is complicated, thus expensive. also they're charging what the market will currently bear...once it becomes cheaper to GD, other companies will offer lower prices, then this company will be forced to follow suit. i'd like to see a few ashera break out of the lab and breed in a colony of their own. or something...it worries me that purely "designed" animals exist in such limited numbers. i know it's to keep demand high, as well as to maintain breed standard, etc. for all i know, there's a kitty island somewhere in the south pacific where the ashera roam free, served fancy feast in their hammocks by bowing human slaves...but if the number is being kept low, and something goes wrong, the world could lose them all. and i'm babbling. one word if someone DOES decide to go the designer pet route: INSURANCE. |
